Khelo India Youth Games 4th edition to be hosted by Haryana

Khelo India venue has been decided

Kiren Rijiu Minister of State of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Saturday announced that Khelo India Youth Games 4th Edition will be hosted by Haryana.

According to the statement by sports minister Kiren Rijiju, Pankhula in Haryana will be the venue for the event next year.  It is going to be held just after Tokyo Olympics 2021. Sports Minister along with chief minister of  shri Manohar lal khatter announced this via video Conference.

We are not going to have Khelo India this winter  so we have decided that Khelo India Youth Games 2021 is going to be held in Pankhula, Haryana. I along with chief minister of Haryana and  Haryana sport minister sandeep singh together took part in announce ceremony and declared  Haryana to be venue of 2021 Khelo India youth games.” said Kiren Rijiju.

 

He further added that “Haryana is very important for young athletes in India as large numbers of athletes comes from Haryana in  different category in sports discipline.”

He also said that “Other state will also get experience and opportunity to host this in the future.”

 

Haryana Chief Minister also tweeted “A proud moment for all Haryanvis! We will host the 4th edition of #KheloIndiaYouthGames. I thank Shri @KirenRijiju ji & @kheloindia for appreciating the strength of our incredible sportsperson who have brought laurels for the State. Let’s bounce back with a new zeal after Covid!”

Haryana has topped in medal tally of 1st edition held in Khelo India Youth Games with Total :102 medal (38 gold, 26 silver, 38 bronze). In 2nd edition which was held in Pune, Maharashtra, Haryana came 2nd with total 178 medal (62 gold, 56 silver, 60 bronze). In 3rd edition which was held in Guwahati, Assam , Haryana maintained 2nd position  with total 200 medal (68 gold, 60 silver, 72 bronze).

 

Khelo India opening

Khelo India Youth Games are cancelled for the year 2020 due to covid-19. As per reports only venue has been decided dates are yet to disclosed.

The Khelo India programme has been introduced to revitalize  the sports culture in India and establish India as a great sporting nation. Talented Athlete identified in priority sports disciplines at various levels by the High-Powered Committee will be provided annual financial assistance of INR 5 lakh per annum for 8 years.

French racing driver Pierre Gasly won 2020 Italian Grand Prix

Italian Grand Prix

Pierre Gasly is a French racing driver who won the 2020 Italian Grand Prix for the Alpha Tauri team which was held in Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy. It was his first Formula 1 Victory.

In this Race, Carlos Sainz Jr. stood second and Lance Stroll stood third and Lewis Hamilton who is also a 6-time champion eventually ended up in seventh place after he earned a 10-second stop-go penalty.

Major Dhyanchand Vijay Path Scheme: Launched by UP Government

Major Dhyan Chand Vijay Path

Major Dhyanchand Vijay Path Scheme has been launched by UP deputy CM Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya under this scheme 19 international players from the state will get road connectivity to their home.

On 29 August which is also celebrated as National Sports Day and also the 115th birth anniversary of the legendary Olympian Major Dhyan Chand. UP government launched this ‘Major Dhyan Chand Vijay Path’ scheme.

The 19 sportspersons who will be benefited from the Major Dhyanchand Vijay Path scheme are:

Pawan Kumar Sharma and Ashish Gautam (fencing), Isha Dhangar (judo), Jitu Gola (fencing), Pawan Kumar (cricket), Ravi Kumar (shooting), Varun Pahelwan (wrestling), Komal Sharma and Tanya Chaudhary (athletics), Tanu Rathi (volleyball), Akansha Bansal (shooting), Abhishek Singh (kabaddi), RP Singh (hockey), Kavita Yadav (cross-country running), Vaidehi Mishra (fencing), Bhuvneshwar Kumar (cricket), Satish Kumar (boxing), Shanti Swaroop (rowing) and Chavi Tomar (volleyball).

Shri Keshav Prasad Maurya also said that a road in the state would be named after late cabinet minister and Indian cricketer Chetan Chauhan.

Hike in prize money of National Sports Awards

Sports Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju congratulates all the recipients of National Sports Awards with this he announced an increase in the prize money in four of the seven categories of the National Sports Awards. The award function was held virtually on 29th August 2020 from Rashtrapati Bhawan where the awardees received their awards from the Hon’ble President of India.

The increased price money of National Sports Awards are given below :

  1. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award
  2. Dronacharya Award(Lifetime)
  3. Dronacharya Award(Regular)
  4. Arjuna Award
  5. Dhyanchand Award

The Cash prize for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award previously was Rs 7.5 lakh now it has been increased to Rs 25 lakh. 

The Cash prize for the  Arjuna Award previously was 5 lakh now it has been raised to Rs 15 lakh.

The Cash prize for the  Dhronacharya(Lifetime) previously was Rs 5 lakh will now be given Rs 15 lakh, while Cash prize for the Dhronacharya (Regular) previously was Rs 5 lakh now it has been enhanced to Rs 10 lakh.

The Cash prize for the Dhyanchand Award previously was 5 lakh now it has been raised to Rs 10 lakh.

The announcement was made on the occasion of 115th birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyan Chand, which is also celebrated as National Sports Day.
