National Recruitment Agency: Union cabinet approves to set up NRA to conduct Common Eligibility Test
Union Cabinet approves setting up of ‘National Recruitment Agency’ to conduct the Common Eligibility Test under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
National Recruitment Agency(NRA) will conduct the Common Eligibility Test(CET) that will help to shortlist candidates for the Group B and C (non-technical) posts. It’s a multi-agency body to cover the prelims test by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and the Institute of Banking Service Personnel (IBPS).
Applicants who qualify this Common Entrance Test (CET) can apply to any recruitment agencies for a mains exam/higher level of examination. As there were used to multiple examinations for the different post which creates a burden on the candidates and also they face venue related issues. On average, 2.5 crores to 3 crore applicants appear in each of these examinations. A CET would enable these candidates to appear once and apply to any or all of these recruitment agencies for the higher level of examination.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted “The #NationalRecruitmentAgency will prove to be a boon for crores of youngsters. Through the Common Eligibility Test, it will eliminate multiple tests and save precious time as well as resources. This will also be a big boost to transparency.”
